7-7-2018 Take It Through The Week
Monday – Psalms 2:1–3 All of this psalm has a single theme; the foolishness of the rebellious compared to the Sovereign God’s Might. Not much has changed in the 3000 years since this was written. The world continues to plot and rage against the King of Heaven and His plan to stamp out sin, in His time. Our nation has made terrible decisions for the last 50 years and it’s not amiss to say that the nations revel and peoples plot in vain. It would not be an exaggeration to say that our rulers conspire together against the Lord and His Anointed One. We should read passages like Ps. 2 as a massive confirmation of God’s Word and God’s Plan. Because to look at what is going on in the world today, if God had not told us ahead of time what to expect, it might be more than a little disconcerting. Thank God, that God has given men free-will, but praise God, He rules the Nations with an iron scepter, and ultimately, our God will be victorious in this world. As believers in the Risen Lord Jesus Christ we can agree with what Paul says in 2 Cor. 13:4. …we will live with Him by God’s power…
Tuesday – Psalms 2:4–6 There is coming a time in the future when God will deal with the way that His Name has been mocked and ridiculed. We are now in a time of great mercy where He is extending to every man, His patient abiding love. He loves us all individually. But when people get together and start agreeing with one another that they don’t need God, God ridicules their attitude toward Him. He knows how uniquely we are created. He has plainly told us in His Word the very things that will destroy us and yet, as a people we gravitate toward self-destruction. Jesus is the solution for every painful arrogance of men, and yet so many mock the power in His Name. There are times when He makes adjustments in the Nations and the world literally quakes at His instruction. There are times when nature plainly demonstrates the power of God. There are times when He does what only God can do. And in those times, men remember who He is and what He has said. The Lord Jesus Christ, even now sits enthroned on Zion, His holy mountain. And yes, there is a time when everything that is, will be shaken and His holy mountain will descend to the earth. In that day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord. Every mocker, every ridiculer, every arrogant slanderer of God will kneel and confess they were wrong. Until that day, we worship Him. We proclaim now, what the world will proclaim in eternity. We proclaim Him now so that as many who will come to Him, will proclaim Him before they get to eternity. Before it is too late. He is indeed King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Read Rev. 19:16. Take a few moments and tell the Lord that you believe He is Lord and Lord of your life.
Wednesday – Psalms 2:7–9 David says that he will declare the Lord’s decree. What is the Lord’s decree? God, through the power of His Spirit, shows David the Messiah who will be born of a virgin. God shows David that the Messiah will be God’s Son. God shows David that the Messiah will be Lord of the nations and the ends of the earth. Yes, He will literally own them, as His possession. And even though the nations have aligned themselves against the Lord, they will be broken with a rod of iron. They will shatter just like a clay vase would shatter if you or I dropped it. In the great and mighty day of the Lord, all that we know as borders and countries, and even languages, will be splintered and splattered with a word by the Lord Jesus Christ. We don’t know when that time will be but when it comes, the Name of Jesus Christ will be a rod of iron, that smashes the priorities of worldly man. And then, He will replace the nations with a whole new world. It will be a whole new perfect world, that we get to live in forever, in perfect harmony and perfect peace.
Thursday – Psalms 2:10–12 As always, God tells us what He is going to do, so that we can be a part of it. Few and far between are the politicians and kings of the earth who are watching and listening to see what God says and to see what He is going to do next. In verse 10 God advises the kings of the earth to be wise. How are they to be wise? They are to receive instruction from Him. They are to serve Him rather than serving themselves. And more importantly they are to reverence Him and worship Him. I guess we don’t see that much nowadays. But we will someday. And until that time when the nations reverence Him and worship Him, those of us who are washed in the blood of the lamb are blessed. We are secure. We are protected. We are held in the palm of His hand. We have peace in Him. All those who take refuge in Him are happy. Read 1 Thess. 5:23. While the kings of the world will be destroyed completely someday, those who are being sanctified by the blood of the Lamb will be kept sound and blameless. We will be saved completely. He will hold us safe, in Him until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Come quickly, Lord. We look forward to the time we see you.
Friday – Ephesians 3:14–19 Paul told the Ephesians that he was praying for them. And not just that he was praying for them but that he was praying they would be strengthened with power. And the power he prays for them is more of Jesus. He prays that Jesus may dwell in their hearts through faith. By extension, Paul’s prayer and what he prayed for the Ephesians, is also available for us today. In the uncertainty of the world around us isn’t it good to know that we can be rooted and firmly established in love. And that is God’s desire for us. Not to be shaken. Not to be worried. Not to be stressed. How does all of this happen? The more we know Him, the more we know how to be strong through Him. Pray with me. Father, help me to be able to comprehend the length, and width, height and depth of Your love. To understand the depth of our Messiah’s love actually surpasses knowledge, but help me to understand just a part of how much You love me, of how much you love my family. Fill us all with all of the fullness of God. Thank you for the beauty of this passage of scripture. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Saturday – Ephesians 3:20–4:3 God is able to do more than we ask or even think. He is able to change our lives and to keep us strong in Him. The key to being able to access His Power to change us, is for us to walk with Him. Walking with Him means prayer and bible study daily. Here in verse 1 and 2 we are told to walk worthy of his calling. And then we are given very simple but direct instructions. We are to walk with humility, gentleness, and patience. And that is what Jesus was when he walked among us. As we read the Gospels, we are amazed at His teachings, but equally as impressive was our Lord’s character. Think for a moment of something he said or did that was filled with humility, gentleness, and patience. We are called to walk worthy of Him. To do what He did. Especially in the church, with other believers. Keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds us. Pray with me. Lord help us to walk worthy of You. Help us to be more like You with everyone we deal with. May they see you in us. Help us to be humble, gentle, and patient. You inspire us to be more than we thought we could be. You lead us and teach us your ways. Help us to be diligent at being unified with other Believers. Bind us together with your peace. You are our Lord and the church should be a place of peace between believers. Help us to be pleasing to you and help us to walk worthy of our calling. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.
