3-3-2018 Pastor’s Blog
So today and tomorrow, I am using the clip from the View, in my message. You know the one I’m talking about. The one where Joy Behar ridicules, and bullies Vice President Mike Pence, concerning his Christian faith. Joy Behar quotes former white house aide Omarosa who reports… “He talks to Jesus, and he believes Jesus talks back.”
So The View ladies had to discuss this. Joy Behar says believing Jesus talks to you is “mental illness.” Well we are addressing that very thing right now in my new sermon series “Seeking.” It will be videoed, so if you miss that sermon, just go online to lifehousefellowship.org to 3-4-2018 “Seeking” and watch it.
In this blog I don’t want to address her first statement, I want to address her second statement. Her first statement was heresy. Her second statement is hypocrisy. “My question is can he (Mike Pence) talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room?”
First, Jesus is not Mary Magdalene. Jesus is the Christ. Mary Magdalene is a born-again believer whose sins were forgiven, who is presently in heaven. She doesn’t talk to anybody on earth.
However, the Bible plainly teaches that the reason for the Cross of Christ, is specifically so the Holy Spirit would come. The Holy Spirit is called the “Counselor”, He is called the “Spirit of Truth.” Jesus said He had to die on the cross or the “Counselor” wouldn’t come.
The Holy Spirit came specifically to “talk” to believers. And yes, if believers are walking in the Spirit in a daily relationship with the Lord, the Holy Spirit does lead believers. Mike Pence never meant he heard God’s audible voice. Was he possibly referring to the same truth as the old hymn?
“I come to the garden alone,
while the dew is still on the Roses
and the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
the Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me and He talks with me.
And He tells me I am His own.
And the joy we share, as we tarry there,
none other, has ever known.”
Yes, some of my fondest memories are of my grandpa and grandma, singing this song in the little white church, just down the road. But they never meant, they heard God’s audible voice. They did mean that the Word of God is true and the relationship it describes is personal, and intimate. God speaks to man. Unless that man or woman is too stupid to listen. Enter Joy Behar.
In her “apology”, she says she was raised as a Christian. That both her parents are Christian. She says that she gives money to the church. Strange, because if her first “joke” was heretical, her second joke was hypocritical in the highest sense of the word.
She was disparaging Mike Pence’s statement about not allowing himself to be alone in a room with another female, unless his wife is there. It is a practice I myself have practiced, for all of my ministry. There is no possibility of my failing the Lord, or even being accused of failing the Lord, if I’m never alone with a woman. It is a wise thing for any man to practice. It is a wise thing for any woman to practice. All affairs started with casual conversations, where a man and a woman are alone together in a room.
You see when I heard Mike Spence’s statement about that, I immediately agreed and respected him for it. Joy Behar ridiculed him for it. I wonder if she would have ever ridiculed Bill Clinton for it? Oh wait, Bill Clinton never made that statement. I do believe that under oath he said, “I did not have sex with that woman.”
There are several really good books about Bill Clinton and the various women in his life. Wonder if Joy Behar ever read any of them? I wonder if she ever came to the defense of some of those women who reported what happened to them, when they were alone in a room with Bill Clinton.
Given the current “Metoo” environment in our government, I would think a man who refuses to be alone in a room with a female, unless he has a witness to vouch for his character… Well, why wouldn’t that be a good thing?
Well, if every man practiced what Mike Pence practices, then rape, sexual abuse, adultery, fornication, and murder (some of them), wouldn’t exist. Why wouldn’t a man be admired for such a commitment to his wife? Where exactly is the downside?
So no, I won’t be viewing “The View”, I have a biblical worldview. What the Bible says is what I believe. That is my “view”.
